Just a note of support for you. I read that the owner is scaling down - yet, I still think it's the wrong project in the wrong place.

I worked at that site when it was The White Elephant - and spent many a Sunday watching the little kiddos going across our parking lot to catch tadpoles in the creek and the older kids carrying their surfboards to the beach. The school bus dropped the neighborhood children off in the afternoons - and a number of them would stop by the shop for a piece of hard candy out of our jar, Neighbors, young and old would come to browse or buy or chat. It was a good thing, as Martha would say.

Thinking about those days when it was a little 'hub' - makes me want to see something there that meets the same purpose - and a hotel and/or time share is NOT it.

An indoor-outdoor coffee house-cum-garden cafe; a small book exchange; a boutique; plen-aire art; some/all things that would welcome neighbors and travelers alike. Kept to one story with open space, gardens & fountain(s) - ? Don't know.
Maybe one could appeal to the owner to draw on small village Italian styles...

In any case, I know there are lots of us in Morro Bay who care deeply about this section of the coast - and we want very much for your town and ours to retain the charms which make us so special.
