The developer (Franco DeCicco) has submitted to the county, a redesign of this project, on October 21, 2008. Above are two architectural drawings of a public document from the San Luis Obispo county planning department, which in itself shows how massive, dense and out-of-scale this development would be. To view a higher resolution picture, please click on them. Also, please view the other architectural drawings further down. |
The Board of Supervisors on October 7, 2008 told Franco DeCicco to go back and redesign the project. The SLO County Planning Commission conditionally approved this project on June 26, 2008. The final approval calls for the hotel portion to be 2 stories, and no more then 22 feet in height. They also required additional mitigations concerning possible soil contamination, construction traffic, dust containment during construction, and a performance bond. The developer (Franco DeCicco) had filed an appeal with the Board of Supervisors, and the hearing was on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at 1:30 pm at the SLO County Government Center, 1055 Monterey St., Rm D170, downtown San Luis Obispo. His main objection and the basis for his appeal was the height limit.

We love Cayucos because of it's relaxed, beach-town environment. We are not looking for a big development that will compromise where we live and play with a "Newport Beach" agenda. We understand that the owner of this property has a right to develop it, and we ask that it be reasonable in size, and consistent with the surrounding neighborhood. We don't want a monstrosity that is going to severely impact the local residents who live here full time, or the folks visiting from out of town who appreciate the quaint charm that Cayucos has always provided. Please see this recent article in the San Francisco Chronicle. |
